II Ratón Pérez Tooth Collection Campaign

Monday 31 August 2015
This morning, the researchers Marina Martínez de Pinillos and Cecilia Garcia Campos, from the Dental Anthropology Group of the National Centre for Research on Human Evolution (CENIEH), presented the 2nd Ratón Pérez Tooth Collection Campaign, whose main objective is to create the most important reference collection of dental pieces in the world.

As Marina Martínez de Pinillos, coordinator of this activity, explained, the objective has already been achieved because there is no comparable reference collection anywhere, although, as she commented, it is necessary to continue counting on donations from the public, as the teeth offer a field of study for researchers both to study human evolution and current populations and "the more pieces that make up the collection, the better".

This Campaign will take place at the CENIEH facilities during the 6th European Researchers' Night, which will be held on Friday 25th September, and from six in the evening until ten in the evening, young and old alike will be able to donate their teeth in exchange for a gift and a certificate as an assistant to the tooth fairy and the CENIEH Dental Anthropology Group.
